Lip Restoration

Lip Restoration

Lip restoration is an approach that addresses irregularities, migrated product or an unbalanced appearance resulting from previous filler treatments.

What Is Lip Restoration?

Repeated filler treatments over time or unsuitable techniques may cause an altered lip shape, product buildup or filler extending beyond the lip border. The restoration process aims to correct these concerns.

Where necessary, existing hyaluronic acid filler is dissolved using an enzyme. Time is allowed for tissue recovery, after which a balanced new plan suited to the lip anatomy is considered.

How Is the Procedure Performed?

  1. Assessment. The condition of the existing product, lip anatomy and expectations are assessed.
  2. Dissolving (if needed). Where appropriate, existing filler is dissolved using an enzyme.
  3. Waiting and review. The planned time is allowed for tissue recovery, and the lips are reassessed.
  4. Replanning. If needed, a balanced filler plan is carried out gradually.

Who May Be Considered for Treatment?

  • People unhappy with the appearance of their previous filler
  • People who notice filler extending beyond the lip border or other irregularities
  • People who notice asymmetry in their lips
  • People who wish to make a fresh, balanced start with their lip appearance

If the type of previous product is unknown, the process is planned accordingly; permanent fillers other than hyaluronic acid cannot be dissolved with an enzyme and require separate assessment.

After Treatment

Temporary lip swelling may occur after dissolving; the time needed for tissue to settle varies from person to person. If filler is reapplied, aftercare is similar to that for lip fillers; all steps are explained during the consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will dissolving damage my lips?

The enzyme targets hyaluronic acid filler; treatment is planned under medical supervision and at a suitable dose. The process and possible sensitivities are explained beforehand.

Can filler be applied immediately after dissolving?

A waiting period is generally recommended to allow tissue to recover; suitable timing is determined during assessment.

I do not know which filler I had. Is that a problem?

Assessment becomes particularly important in this situation; a safe plan is developed together based on examination findings.
